12 Best At-Home Laser Hair Removal Products

How many razors have you gone through in your life? Probably more than you can count. I think every woman has tried multiple types of hair removal, but more and more women are now turning to home laser hair removal.

And that’s for a good reason:

Over time, home laser hair removal may not only save you a ton of money compared to the cost of professional treatments. It also may lead to permanent hair removal, and it’s completely safe.

But you’re probably wondering:

How do I choose the right laser hair removal device out of (many) hundreds available?

We did the research so you don’t have to, and found the top ten best at-home laser hair removal products.

At the end of this article, we’ll also tell you which one of them is our personal winner. This little guy is easy to use, has low operating costs and outperforms its competition!

So sit tight:

Below you’ll find the pros and cons of what may be the 10 best products available on the market. Read on to find your next favorite!

What Is Home Laser Hair Removal?

At its simplest, at-home laser hair removal is a handheld device with pulsed light that breaks down hair at the follicle. The light heats the hair until it zaps the dark pigment. Once the hair has been zapped enough times, it will be too damaged to grow anymore.

Although for quite some time laser hair removal at home wouldn’t work for people with dark skin or very light hair, there are now newer models that will.

How Much Does Laser Hair Removal At Home Cost?

DIY laser treatments are not only convenient, but they can also save you money. The average treatment cost per session is $235 in a spa or doctor’s office. Since most people need multiple treatments in each area to remove hair long-term or permanently, purchasing an FDA approved laser hair removal at home device can save you serious money.

Does DIY Laser Hair Removal Hurt?

Home laser hair treatments seem to be a bit like tattoos when it comes to pain; it completely depends on who you ask and where on the body the treatment is.

It really varies this much:

Some people say it barely hurts at all, while others say that it feels like a rubber band being snapped against your skin over and over. So it looks like the level of pain will completely depend on your own pain tolerance and the sensitivity of the area. For example, it may be less painful on your calves than it would be on your ankles.

If you’re really worried about pain, you can ask a medical professional about numbing creams that you can use beforehand.

How Safe Is It To Use a Laser on Your Skin?

You might be a little hesitant to zap your skin with a laser, but you can avoid injury by following the instructions. Each device has its own abilities; some are safe for use on dark skin, while others are not. The Tria 4X, for example, is not safe for people with dark complexions or light hair.

In case you are still wondering:

“Is it even safe for me to use a laser device with my skin type?” ‒

They have a handy interactive chart on their website that allows you to determine whether it is safe for you to use a laser device for hair removal. The Tria 4X (and many other devices) also has a safety mechanism that will lock if it detects skin or hair pigment that is not fit for it.

To ease your mind even further, devices like the Tria are less powerful than their in-office versions. However, Tria absolutely can’t be used on:

  • eyebrows
  • ears
  • nipples
  • genitals
  • men’s facial hair
  • tattooed skin
  • moles
  • child’s skin

The FDA cautions consumers using home laser hair removing devices can cause:

  • blistering

  • discoloration after treatment

  • swelling

  • redness

  • scarring

They also urge consumers to take care when using numbing creams, as you can accidentally hurt yourself if your skin is too numb.

One more thing to keep in mind:

The FDA recommends that you stay out of the sun while healing from your treatment; it’s probably most practical to do at-home treatments days before the beach rather than minutes. Consult with a dermatologist to find the best timing.

Just like with anything else, proper use is the safest way to go.

But Does It Really Work?

You may be skeptical of models and journalists who claim that body hair laser removal devices work. After all, they’re getting paid to promote a product. Go to YouTube, though, and you can find tons of demonstrations, before and after vlogs, and discussions from vloggers ‒ people who have been posting video blogs for months or years, with social proof in the number of followers they have.

But still:

You may have a hard time finding a video that doesn’t feature an affiliate link or coupon code; the vlogger may or may not be biased in their review.

We found something that could be worth your while, though. Watch vlogger Michelle Crossan discussing the pros and cons of the Phillips Lumea IPL, as well as its ease of use, the improvement she saw after six weeks of treatments, and more in this review:

So what results did she get, exactly?

Michelle says that even after only three or so treatments, her hair is growing in slower and finer, making shaving a breeze. She also says that the device is lighter in weight than she expected it would be ‒ making it super easy to use and maneuver while performing treatments.

How to Choose the Device for You

It may feel overwhelming, especially considering how many permanent hair removal at-home devices there are on the market. So best would be not to jump into buying something right away and do some proper research instead.

How?

One way is to read through as many reviews as possible. A good rule of thumb is to read a few four- and five-star reviews, but focus more on the three-, two-, and one-star reviews. After reading several, you can get a sense of what seems to be a fairly common complaint or whether another customer’s issue might not be applicable to you.

After reading a dozen ‒ give or take ‒ reviews from each device, compare and contrast their features. If you have dark skin, for example, you’ll want to skip the Tria 4X altogether and take a look at the Silk’n Flash&Go.

You’ll also want to take your budget into consideration. These devices run anywhere from just over two hundred dollars to several hundred dollars or more.

Expensive ‒ or is it?

Keeping in mind that an at-home device will save you the cost of in-office treatments, you may want to calculate what you would have spent on appointments, then compare the total to the devices you are interested in.

To save you some time, I’ve rounded up the 10 top home laser hair removal systems. Check them out below!

Top 10 Best At-Home Body Laser Hair Removal Devices

1. LumaRx Full Body IPL Hair Removal Device for Face & Body

  • Removes body and facial hair
  • Shaped to your hand
  • Results in 94% hair reduction

The LumaRx IPL weighs just under five pounds. It is shaped like a smaller electric razor and is podlike and well-shaped to the hand. LumaRx boasts a 94 percent reduction in hair after only three treatments. Both men and women with light to medium complexions and dark hair can use it on:

  • Body hair
  • Underarms
  • Bikini line
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Chest
  • Back
  • Stomach

Only women are able to safely use the LumaRx for facial hair removal, including:

  • Cheeks
  • Sideburns
  • Chin
  • Neck areas
  • Upper lip

For safety reasons, there is a sensor that detects skin tone and locks if the melanin in the skin is too dark (or too light in the hair). It has been cleared by the FDA and blocks both UV and infrared energy during treatment.

In clinical trials, leg and underarm hair were less visible twelve months after three treatments. Upper lip hair was less visible nine months after six treatments, and men’s chest hair was less visible one month after three treatments.

Reviewers seem to be overall satisfied with the results of the LumaRx, though several say that the size of the light makes treatments time consuming (which seems to be a theme amongst these devices). Users recommend that others start on the lowest setting and work their way up to avoid any pain.

It’s important to note that each of these devices is not safe for use on darker areas like freckles, moles, or tattoos; using it on these will result in painful burns. If you’re not sure, it’s better to be safe than sorry!

Pros

  • Removes body and (women’s) facial hair
  • Shaped to your hand
  • Results in 94 percent hair reduction

Cons

Not safe for use on dark skin

  • Not safe for use/not effective on light hair
  • Not safe for men’s facial hair

Best for

  • Women’s facial hair
  • Sensitive areas

2. DEESS IPL Hair Removal Device for Home Use

  • 350,000 flashes
  • Very lightweight
  • Comes with goggles

Deess boasts over 17 years of experience in fine-tuning and perfecting their hair removal products. They have conducted extensive, ongoing clinical tests of their products and they are sold in more than 120 countries.

The Deess systems claim to fame is their clinical tests that showed results of 70% reduction after third treatment and a noticeable reduction in regrowth after the 5 treatments. Following 9 to 10 treatments, they claim a 90% reduction in unwanted body hair so all that is needed is the occasional quick touch-up.

There is a safety sensor in this machine that ensures you have the head pressed against your skin before it delivers the pulse. The set also includes safety goggles for eye protection against the light.

This Deess machine is not cordless and must be plugged in to use, making it less ideal for travel. On the bright side, this means that the device will not get discharged while in use.

Pros

  • Results similar to professional hair removal devices
  • Perfect for use at home, does not discharge

Cons

  • Not cordless
  • Not safe for people with dark skin
  • Time-consuming treatments

Best for

  • Full-body hair removal

3. Braun Gillette Venus Silk-Expert IPL 5001 Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal System

  • Use on face and body
  • Fast treatment and results
  • Easy to use in tight areas

The Braun Gillette Venus IPL kit is a two for one; not only does it remove hair using an IPL, but it also doubles as a razor ‒ making it pretty convenient for treatments, considering you have to shave first.

This device boasts fast treatments, estimating about eight minutes to treat a single arm or leg. 94 percent of women noticed results after only three months, and 89 percent of users noticed continued results twelve months after their last treatment. Clinical studies were conducted in 2013 and 2014. Supposedly, users will see results after just four treatments. It also boasts gentle and painless treatments.

This device’s IPL reads the melanin in your skin eighty times per second and automatically detects skin tone and adjusts for treatment. However, like the other devices, it is not intended for people with darker skin or lighter hair.

It is shaped just like a regular electric razor, making it easier to use in tight areas, but weighs a whopping eight pounds ‒ which could make it cumbersome.

Some reviewers said that, on their legs, it didn’t hurt at all. In more sensitive areas, such as their underarms, it felt a bit like a pinch. Most people seem to be pretty satisfied with it, though it’s been mentioned a few times that its size and weight makes it a little difficult to use.

Pros

  • Two-in-one, with razor
  • Fast treatment and results
  • Easy to use in tight areas

Cons

  • Very heavy (eight pounds)
  • Not safe for use on dark skin
  • Not safe for use on light hair

Best for

  • Sensitive areas (bikini line, armpits, etc)
  • Gentle treatments

4. Mlay M3 Home IPL Hair Removal System With 3Pcs 120000 Flashes Head [HR,AC,SR] For Hair Removal/Anti-Acne/Photorejuvenation

  • Three-in-one treatment
  • Safe for facial hair use
  • Lightweight

Just like the HailiCare three-in-one system, the Mlay M3 comes with three different heads: one for hair removal, one for acne treatment, and another for skin rejuvenation.

It can be used by men and women of light to medium complexion, with darker hair on: arms, underarms, bikini line, legs, back, chest, and upper lip. Using IPL technology, the Mlay laser hair removal machine works in an average of four or five treatments, with some people taking less or more treatments before they saw results.

The Mlay M3 comes with safety glasses and an AC adapter; it is not a cordless device. It weighs about four pounds and is shaped like a scanner.

In Mlay hair removal reviews, as well as in the manufacturer’s manual, it’s recommended to do seven to nine treatments, with your first three treatments done weekly. You can perform the next four to six treatments once every two or three weeks, and continue treatments as needed every two to three months.

This Mlay IPL permanent hair removal device is another relatively new product with mostly satisfied customers who say that, as with other devices of its kind, it took a few treatments but worked well.

Pros

  • Three-in-one treatment
  • Safe for facial hair use
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Not cordless
  • Not safe for people with dark skin
  • Not safe for people with light hair

Best for

  • Acne treatment, skin rejuvenation
  • Light to medium skin colors
  • People with dark hair

5. Tria Beauty Hair Removal Laser 4X

  • Cordless
  • Sleek design
  • Digital interface

The Tria Beauty Hair Removal Laser 4X directly competes with the Remington iLIGHT Ultra, the next device in my list. It’s by far the sleekest of all the devices; with a wide handle and small head, it looks like a futuristic scanner. At nearly four pounds, though, it’s almost the heaviest. It was the first of its kind to be approved by the FDA.

Tria suggests that you perform self-treatments once every two weeks for up to three months.

Three weeks after two treatments, clinical studies showed a 70 percent decrease in hair. After two months of treatment, hair is visibly finer and grows less. Tria says that after three months, hair follicles that have been deactivated no longer grow.

It is cordless, making it easily portable around your home or for travel. It also has a digital interface that is easy to use, letting you know how many pulses have been delivered. As a safety mechanism, the laser only pulses when in contact with skin.

Customers who are used to in-office treatments found the Tria not very painful even on its highest setting. Other users compared the sensation to a minor burn. Still, other customers said that it was very painful. It seems that experiences vary widely, so definitely do a test run before going all in. Some people also found the size of the device cumbersome in tight areas ‒ especially because of the laser’s size.

Just like other devices, it has a built-in sensor to detect skin tone. The Tria 4X is another device that is unsafe for dark or tanned complexions or those with white, blonde, or red hair. There were many reviewers complaining about this, as it seems that this information was not readily available. Some say that the Tria 4X didn’t work for them at all.

Pros

  • Cordless
  • Sleek design
  • Digital interface

Cons

  • On the heavier side
  • Not safe for dark skin
  • Not safe for light hair

Best for

  • Travel
  • Users with in-office treatment experience

6. Remington iLIGHT Ultra Face and Body Hair Removal System

  • 94% less hair in 3 treatments
  • Looks like an electric razor
  •  Safe for women’s facial hair

The Remington iLIGHT Ultra boasts up to 94 percent hair reduction in about three treatments. Like the Tria and Philips Lumea, it is not effective for people with light hair or dark skin, and automatically locks when the sensor detects these features on your body. It can, however, be safely used on the face ‒ a real standout feature.

The Remington iLIGHT has several different models in their line:

  • Remington iLIGHT Pro Hair Removal System
  • Remington iLIGHT Pro Plus Quartz Hair Removal System
  • Remington iLIGHT Ultra Hair Removal System

The Remington iLIGHT Pro and Pro Plus Quartz models aren’t safe for facial use, but the Ultra is; however, it cannot be used on male facial hair. It was cleared for consumer use by the FDA.

This device isn’t a laser, per se. It’s an “intense pulsed light,” or IPL. Along with removing hair, IPLs are used to treat skin pigmentation, sun damage, and thread veins. Rather than a laser, an IPL is a computer-controlled flashgun ‒ an alternative to harmful UV rays.

As with laser devices, many reviewers caution that this isn’t an overnight miracle. A common issue seems to be that the bulb often dies out long before it’s supposed to. The bulbs are replaceable as cartridges, and many customers say that the length of use seems to vary from bulb to bulb.

Consumers also say that because the bulb itself is so small, treatments take longer than expected. Some reviewers say that it feels like a rubber band snapping on your skin, while others say that they felt little or no pain. Many users recommend starting out on a lower level to get more use out of the bulb and to see where your pain threshold is.

Pros

  • iLIGHT Ultra model is safe for women’s facial hair
  • Looks like an electric razor
  • 94% hair reduction in 3 treatments

Cons

  • Bulbs don’t seem to last long
  • Not safe for use on men’s facial hair
  • Not safe for use on dark skin or light hair

Best for

  • Women with light to medium complexions
  • Women with dark body hair or facial hair

7. Philips Lumea Comfort IPL Hair Removal System

  • Cool to the touch
  • Pod-shaped
  • Works fast

The Philips Lumea Comfort IPL begins to work after just one treatment. Like many devices, it has a safety feature that senses skin tone and locks if it’s too dark. It is ideal for light to medium skin tones, and dark hair. Its pulses are cool to the touch, and it has a UV filter to protect your skin. Though there is a two-year warranty, Philips claims that you can get over four and up to six years of full-body treatments out of it, and that no replacement lamps are needed.

The device is lightweight at about one pound, and its longest side is under five inches long, making it easy to hold in your hand. It’s sort of pod-shaped and fits comfortably in your palm.

Results seem to vary depending on the customer. A couple of users mentioned that you should not use this model if you have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), but Philips does not mention this in the manual. If you are a PCOS patient, be sure to check with your doctor before purchasing and using the Philips Lumea Comfort IPL.

Many users note that this device does not work quickly, but over several treatments. Areas with thicker hair ‒ such as armpits ‒ will take longer before you see a noticeable difference.

Pros

  • Cool to the touch
  • Pod-shaped
  • Works fast

Cons

  • Not safe for dark skin
  • Not safe for light hair
  • Not safe for PCOS patients

Best for

  • Legs
  • People with light to medium skin
  • People with dark hair

8. mē Smooth Permanent Hair Reduction Device with FDA Cleared elōs Technology (Men/Women)

  • Safe for use on dark skin
  • Safe for use on light hair
  • Lightweight

After much searching, I found the most effective (not to mention safe) home laser hair removal system for men and women of color. The Me Smooth is not only suitable for people with dark skin, but also safe for people with light or red hair. It uses IPL and radio frequency (RF) technology to reduce hair by 94 percent.

It is shaped a bit like the mouse that you would use with a desktop computer. It weighs four pounds, making it one of the less hefty devices. The Me Smooth reduces hair just three months after treatment, regardless of skin tone.

Unfortunately, the majority of reviewers say that it doesn’t work as well as the manufacturer claims it does. People who used it for more long-term treatments seemed to be more satisfied with their results. Some feel that it is far less effective than in-office treatments. From what reviewers say, the Me Smooth seems to be more of a long-term hair removal solution rather than a permanent hair removal system.

Pros

  • Safe for use on dark skin
  • Safe for use on light hair
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Seems to be less effective than other devices
  • Takes longer to see results

Best for

  • People with dark complexions
  • People with light or red hair

9. Silk’n Flash&Go Hair Removal Device

  • Safe for bikini line
  • Safe for underarms
  • Safe for upper lip

Another FDA-cleared device, the Silk’n Flash&Go touts fast treatment and ease of use for more sensitive areas ‒ such as the bikini line, under your arms, or the upper lip. Weighing in at one pound, the Silk’n Flash&Go is shaped more like a scanner that a sales associate would use at a grocery store. It’s nine inches tall, making it a bit more clunky than the others.

Some reviewers say that lower settings produce slower but less painful results, while higher settings will make treatments and hair loss faster but are a bit more painful. One reviewer said that, on the highest setting, it “almost” hurt.

And (this is important):

Be sure to protect your eyes really well. Some users experienced headaches from the light, even with eye protection. Several users strongly encourage other customers to purchase strong eye protection, as the light is very bright.

Just like other devices, the hair removal seems to work better in areas where the hair is naturally finer. Several users were impressed with the effects on their legs, but less happy with the removal of armpit hair, for example.

As with all devices, the Silk’n Flash&Go works best when you’ve already shaved the area. If you don’t shave before treatments, the laser has to work harder to get to the follicle, resulting in more pain and even stinky burned hair.

Some customers note that, if you want faster treatment, you can hold down the trigger and the light will pulse every four seconds. They say that this achieves quicker sessions in larger areas such as your legs.

Many customers say that this device is very easy to use.

Pros

  • Safe for bikini line
  • Safe for underarms
  • Safe for upper lip

Cons

  • Clunky; shaped like a scanner
  • Works better on fine hair
  • Not safe for dark skin or light hair

Best for

  • Light to medium skin
  • Dark body and facial hair
  • Leg and arm hair removal

10. MyM Hair Removal System For Home Use

  • Fast treatment times
  • Packaged with an extra cartridge
  • Larger laser

Last but not least in my hair removal top 10 systems comparison is the MyM System. The MyM Hair Removal System is not an IPL or a laser, per se, but a home pulsed light (HPL) technology hair removal device. The HPL technology is supposed to be less painful than laser or IPL technology, but with equally professional results. It works by emitting a gentle light that heats the hair shaft, removing the hair and suppressing its growth.

This is another device that looks like a scanner. It weighs just a bit over two pounds, and its light seems to be a bit larger than that of other devices, potentially making treatments faster. It is safe for use by men and women with light to medium complexions and darker hair.

The MyM Hair Removal System also comes with safety glasses, which is another plus considering each customers’ varied reactions to the light. It is also packaged with two cartridges, as opposed to other devices’ single cartridges.

Though it is a relatively newer product, customers seem to be happy with it, noticing a difference as soon as two or three treatments.

It is important to note that this device is not intended for facial hair removal.

The MyM Hair Removal System manufacturer estimates four minutes for underarm hair removal treatments, seven minutes for bikini and leg hair removal, eight minutes for arm hair removal, and fourteen minutes each for both back and chest hair removal.

There is no indication as to whether the MyM Hair Removal System can be used cordlessly or whether it must be plugged in to perform treatments.

Pros

  • Fast treatment times
  • Packaged with extra cartridge
  • Larger laser

Cons

  • Not safe for facial hair
  • Not safe for dark skin
  • Not safe for light hair

Best for

  • Fast treatments
  • Fast results

Veme IPL

  • Two flash modes: single flash or continuous
  • Treat legs, armpits, and arms in 30 minutes
  • Great results in 8 weeks (96% hair removal)

The Veme IPL device by Tumakou is a very popular hair removal system that can treat Fitzpatrick Scale I-V skin types. However, the device does not work well on very dark or very tanned skin, nor is it able to treat light blonde, red, or grey hair.

Flash intensity settings are manual and the device has five power levels. There is also an option to set the device in single flash mode (one flash per trigger) for small areas such as the face, armpits, or groin or continuous flash mode for larger areas of skin such as the legs, arms, back, and stomach.

A nice feature of the Veme is the top digital display, which lets the user know the power level and number of remaining flashes in the quartz bulb. Veme is rated for a bulb lifespan of 500,000 flashes, so that is more than enough for several years of use (only about 15,000-30,000 flashes are needed for full-body treatment over a typical span of 12 treatments).

There are some odd things about the Veme, such as the display presenting FUN (whee!) and HR indicators, which the company says are fixed functions (obviously, this display is used on other devices they make).

The Tumakou line parent company, Shenzhen Shishibang Tech, is also a bit hard to locate or contact, as they mainly operate through resellers, so users will have to go through Amazon for bulb replacements or returns.

Safely treats hair on

  • Face
  • Back
  • Arms
  • Legs
  • Armpits
  • Groin

We could find no clinical trials or studies of the Veme to objectively assess its effectiveness, however, user reviews were very positive.

Pros

  • Bulb lasts for 500,000 flashes
  • Two modes of operation: single or continuous flash
  • Full results in 8 weeks
  • Ergonomic handle that is comfortable to use

Cons

  • No direct contact for the company (must go through resellers)
  • Not for everybody: Limited to certain skin and hair types

Best for

  • Large and small areas
  • Delicate skin areas

Silk’n Infinity

  • Painless and fast (only 20 minutes for a treatment)
  • No bumps or stubble
  • Approved by FDA and Health Canada

The Infinity by Silk’n is an IPL device (which they call an HPL for Home Pulsed Light technology) that produces permanent hair removal after about six weeks of treatment. The pulsed light produced by the device disables matrix cells at the base of the follicle to prevent hair growth.

The quartz bulb in the Infinity recharges faster than other similar devices, which greatly reduces treatment times. The Infinity is rated for 500,000 flashes for each bulb, so it has plenty of lifespan for regular use.

The device is rated to treat Fitzpatrick Scale I-V skin types and has a built-in sensor to prevent the device from illuminating skin that is too dark or without proper color contrast with the treated hair.

The Infinity has five power settings that can be adjusted manually to optimize treatment efficiency for the skin of each user. In addition, around the light window on the Infinity is a metal faceplate that produces a mild current (Galvanic plate) that causes pores to temporarily dilate, allowing for deeper light penetration into the skin.

Safely treats hair on

  • Legs
  • Armpits
  • Groin
  • Trunk

Clinical trials for the HPL technology have established it as effective and safe. The Flash & Go Express works best for fair to medium complexions (Fitzpatrick Scale I-IV). In a study by Alster and Tanzi 2009, Dermatol Surg 35:483, most female volunteers experienced 37% to 54% hair loss after 3 treatments for a period of 6 months.

Nearly all users who have properly scheduled their treatments and used the device as directed were extremely satisfied with the results. The in-built safety features, which include contrast sensors to prevent treating skin areas that are too dark, ensured the proper application of light to optimize favorable outcomes.

Pros

  • Proven in clinical trials
  • Painless hair removal
  • Can be performed at home
  • Repeat treatments yield permanent results

Cons

  • Treatments require patience and time
  • The device does not work for darker skin types

Best for

  • Facial hair
  • Legs
  • Armpits
  • Groin

Winner razor

So Which One is the Best of the Best?

Though I hope that we can eventually have a device that is safe and effective for all skin complexions and hair colors, it seems that the technology is not quite there yet. That said, for me, the clear winner is the LumaRx Full Body IPL Hair Removal Device. I really like that it is so easy to hold in your hand, and isn’t as heavy or clunky as the others. It’s also a major plus that it can be safely used on facial hair.

Of all the IPL hair removal products, it seems to be the most efficient for its cost. It’s also been cleared by the FDA, which is very comforting considering using it entails breaking your hair down with a laser. With so many good reviews as social proof, it seems like the best bet and best mileage for your money.

That said, each and every one of the devices in this review is definitely worth consideration. Which one will be the one? Your choice:

Using at-home body hair laser removal devices is safe, much more affordable than in-office treatments, and easy. With your new device, you’ll be zapping away like a pro in no time. Most importantly, you’ll spend less time shaving and more time just enjoying life! What more could a person ask for?

We hope this article will help you get your hands on the top home laser hair removal device out there!

What’s With the Hair?

I have been through the hair removal wars let me tell you. I’d love to fill you in on all of the gory details from the time I basically glued a pair of lacy knickers to my nether regions with residual DIY wax, but I’ll save that one for another post…

Let’s face it, hair removal is a tiresome (and seemingly endless) task. But if you’ve been wondering how best to trim or shave your pubic hair, there are ways to give yourself a break and make the whole process a heck of alot smoother (pun intended). Choosing the best bikini trimmer or razor for your needs is one of the simplest hacks.

Why Choose a Bikini Trimmer or Bikini Razor?

While waxing, sugaring, and epilation can provide both long lasting and silky smooth results, they are painful- it’s unanimous.

Plus, depending on where you live, trips to the beauticians for this kind of treatment can be pretty expensive. IPL ( or laser hair removal) has become more popular recently thanks to its usually pain-free procedures (not unanimous at all as it seems to completely depend on the person) however, it can be a very costly option, with each session racking up a bill of $200 minimum.

Taking trimming matters into your own hands can be an excellent option because it’s cheaper than IPL and doesn’t carry the pain factor of waxing. Choosing the right product is key here, otherwise, you may find yourself with a hairstyle you weren’t going for, or worse: an uncomfortable rash, ingrown hairs, cuts, the list goes on.

How to Choose the Best Bikini Trimmer or Bikini Razor?

Advantages and Benefits of Each

The good thing about opting to venture down the path of trimming or shaving your lady parts is that there are absolutely tons of bikini hair trimmers and bikini razors available. The bad thing about it is that there are absolutely tons of bikini hair trimmers and bikini razors available. It can get a little overwhelming.

Let’s start with the basics, how do you know if you need a bikini trimmer, a bikini razor, or a combination of both?

(via GIPHY)

Bikini razors are manual, you drag the razor over your skin to remove the hairs at the point they emerge from the surface of the skin. Usually the difference between a bikini razor and a normal razor is the size of the head, it will be much smaller on a bikini razor which makes it easier to shave those hard to reach small areas. This type of hair removal results in a very close shave, giving a smooth effect. Even the best bikini trimmer won’t ever give you as close a shave as a bikini razor. It’s a great choice if you want to achieve a really hairless outcome, or if you are trying to get particular with your hairstyle since you have quite a lot of control with the blade.

The downside of using a bikini razor is that your ever so sensitive skin down there can easily become irritated from direct contact with the bikini razor, especially if you have particularly sensitive skin, thick hairs, or if you are shaving the same place more than a couple of times a week.

(via GIPHY)

A bikini trimmer is like any electric razor – it can be either foil, rotary or clipper. Electric bikini trimmers have moving blades or rotaries that spin round at a very fast speed to cut the hairs. There is usually a foil or some sort of protective cover between the blades and your skin, which means you don’t get as close a shave as with a bikini razor, but your skin will not face the same irritation since it doesn’t have any direct contact with the blade.

If you are looking to keep your pubic area tamed and trimmed, or you’re trying to manage regrowth in between waxes this is a great option, however you arguably won’t have as much precision and control as with a manual bikini razor.

Now you have the basics, you need to know what to look for in a product to find the best bikini trimmer (or bikini razor) for your own specific needs. So how do you know what to look for?

What to Look For?

This will really depend on your personal preferences. The products I’ve reviewed below focus on cost, convenience, quality and comfort as the main factors, so take that into account and try to focus on which factors are most important when choosing.

For example:

There are different options available when it comes to wet/dry functionality on bikini trimmers, which is a convenience factor, but these models may be harder to clean.

Or:

You may notice the best bikini trimmer for multi purpose hair removal and think that one is best for you, but it may not produce the desired hairless, silky smooth effect you are going for.

Just keep your own goals in mind, and make your decision based on these goals.

Let the countdown begin!

Top 7 Best Bikini Trimmers and Bikini Razors

1. Panasonic ES246AC Bikini Shaper & Trimmer for Women

  • checkCheap
  • checkCompact and light
  • checkAdjustable blades

Panasonic has long been considered to produce some of the best electric hair removal products on the market.

At 1.5 inches and 4 ounces in weight, this particular bikini trimmer from Panasonic is super lightweight and slim, so not too bulky to fit into your cosmetics bag. It’s powered by 2 AA batteries, which is handy in the sense that you don’t need to constantly recharge after use, and there’s no plug to carry around with it (which I would almost certainly forget anyway) which makes it one of the best models for portability. The downside being that as far as bikini trimmers go, it runs through batteries relatively quickly so you’ll have to remember to keep a stock of spares.

The blades adjust in 5 different positions, so it’s one of the best devices whether you’re looking to maintain a long, short, or in-between length. Best practice to use it dry, it’ll save you a lot of cleaning hassle since wet hair tends to clog the guard. To clean the bikini trimmer after dry use you can just pop off the guard and brush the hairs off the head (try to do this carefully though because the plastic guard doesn’t feel totally indestructible).

Overall, this is a super travel-friendly model and great value for money.

Pros

  • checkcheap
  • checkcompact and light
  • checkdoesn’t need to be charged
  • checkadjustable blades

Cons

  • need to replace AA batteries
  • gets clogged with wet hair
  • not able to achieve silky smooth finish
  • not waterproof

Best for

  • trimming between waxes
  • maintaining a certain hair length

2. SUPRENT USB Rechargeable Ladies Electric Shaver

  • checkWaterproof
  • checkNo hair pulling
  • checkReduced noise

This waterproof wet/dry bikini trimmer from Surpent is rechargeable through a USB adaptor or in any computer USB port, which makes it an excellent choice for a girl on the go.

There’s 2 different blade types: straight blade for use on legs or arms (i.e. less sensitive areas) and an arc blade for trimming your bikini line or underarms (the sensitive spots). The versatile functionality, i.e. being able to use it all over the body makes it one of the best options in my books, and the baby blue color gives it a nice look too. It gives a very smooth shave, with no pulling, razor rash, or nicks – perfect for someone who is new to the world of electric bikini trimmers.

This particular bikini trimmer is designed to be much quieter than other models, so it’s gotta be one of the best bikini trimmer choices if you prefer to be a little more subtle: there will be somewhat less buzz-buzz in the bathroom.

Pros

  • checkwaterproof
  • checkversatile on other body parts
  • checkno hair pulling
  • checkrechargeable through USB
  • checkreduced noise

Cons

  • need to remember to recharge regularly
  • no chance of achieving smooth hairless effect

Best for

  • maintaining trimmed pubic hair
  • shaving legs, arms, and underarms as well as bikini line

3. Schick Hydro Silk TrimStyle Moisturizing Razor with Bikini Trimmer

  • check2 in 1 functionality
  • checkRefillable blades
  • checkDoesn’t need charging

This model from Schick is a real winner in my humble opinion, since it’s a 2in1 bikini trimmer and bikini razor (and comes in cheaper than you would buy most of the other bikini trimmers on their own). This is great if you want to completely shave your bikini line and keep the rest trimmed up.

The bikini trimmer is totally waterproof, so this baby can be used in or out of the shower. It operates on 4 different settings, 3 with the case on and the last one with the case off for the closest shave, which is still more gentle on the skin than a razor shave. The varied settings make it one of the best bikini trimmer devices in terms of hair length versatility. The razor has a couple of HydroSilk moisturizing strips on it, which are especially good for preventing razor burn or irritation from friction of the blades.

The downside is that the trimmer end tends to get clogged with hair quite easily if you are not meticulous about cleaning it out, but this can be avoided with proper and regular cleans. It runs on 1 AAA battery (it has to be said though, it eats through these batteries pretty fast), and the razor blades can also be replaced with refills.

This is probably one of the best bikini trimmer products for girls who have more than one requirement when it comes to the down there hair.

Pros

  • check2in1 functionality
  • checkcheap and effective
  • checkdoesn’t need charging
  • checkwaterproof
  • checkmoisturizing
  • checkrefillable blades

Cons

  • need to regularly replace the battery
  • trimmer end gets easily clogged with hair

Best for

  • maintaining combo of hair lengths at once
  • managing hair on sensitive skin

4. Panasonic ES2207P Cordless Electric Razor with Pop-Up Trimmer

  • checkPowerful
  • checkComfortable to use
  • checkPrecise and gentle

The Panasonic ES2207P doesn’t have a very sexy name, but it does have almost 3,000 five star reviews on Amazon, making it one of the highest rated products of its kind.

It’s a rechargeable model that comes with its own charger, fits nicely in your hand and is comfortable to use. The manufacturer recommends charging the bikini trimmer for 12 hours before each use for maximum effect (it will still work if you don’t charge it for this long but for sure the blades will spin with more power and hence be more effective when it’s fully charged).

This model can be used all over the body, yet is still precise and gentle enough to use as a bikini trimmer (although if you are going to use it all over your body I recommend doing the bikini area first, while the battery is charged up the most and the blades are most powerful- less hair pulling).

This model has a foil setting, which is great for shaving close to the skin; however be aware that is your hair is long enough to be cut with the clippers – do that first, and then use the foil after. Using the bikini trimmer with the foil on hair that is too long with cause it to catch and pull.

Pros

  • checkpowerful
  • checkcan be used all over the body
  • checkclipper and foil settings for different hair lengths
  • checkcomfortable to use

Cons

  • requires a long charging time

Best for

  • going from long to short hair
  • trimming hair all over body

5. Gillette Venus Women’s Razor and Bikini Trimmer

  • checkBudget friendly
  • checkSmall head for precision
  • checkSuper close shave

The Gillette Venus razors are some of the best bikini razors for girls choosing to go manual over electric bikini trimmer. You’ll be able to achieve a very close, virtually hairless shave and it can be used all over your pubic area without a problem.

Being a specifically designed bikini razor, the design of the razor head is somewhat smaller than other models of disposables, which is great for getting into those smaller nooks and crannys when shaving your pubic hair.

The downside of this bikini razor is that if you are used to using a bigger razor you might find that you miss hairs and have to go over the same area more than once. The blades are extremely sharp and last much longer than a normal disposable razor, which is really important for ensuring the blades won’t drag over your skin causing irritation. There’s also a hydrating strip infused with aloe, which serves to save your skin from some amounts of irritation, too.

The drawback is that the razor head itself is not very flexible, and lacks some of the cushioning that other bikini razors have. This can result in cuts or nicks if you aren’t extremely careful. Overall it’s one of the best bikini razors for someone who is looking to get a very close shave on a budget.

Pros

  • checksuper close shave
  • checksmall head for precision shaving
  • checkvery sharp blades that retain sharpness over time
  • checkbudget friendly

Cons

  • not very cushioned
  • inflexible head
  • the small size of the head isn’t practical for large areas

Best for

  • producing flawlessly hair-free shave
  • shaving bikini line only

6. Philips Precision Perfect HP6390/51 Trimmer

  • checkPrecise trimming
  • checkSmall and compact
  • checkCordless

The Precision Perfect bikini trimmer does exactly what it says on the tin, the head is super small which results in a very precise shave indeed.

This model is specifically recommended for use on bikini lines, and other small sensitive areas like eyebrows, upper lip, even nose hairs. It comes with various trimming head attachments so it’s easy to achieve whatever hair length you’re going for (it’s also simple to adjust if you’re using it on different body parts). The blades tend to work a lot better on finer hairs, girls with extremely coarse hair may find this one less effective than a more robust model.

This bikini trimmer operates on one triple A battery, so no nasty cords hanging out the bottom- but it goes through batteries pretty fast so you will probably need to replace it once a week if you are shaving every day.

The Precision Perfect bikini trimmer comes with a shaping guide, which is a nice addition, especially if trimming up your lady parts is a new thing for you or you’re just looking for some guidance. The body of the bikini trimmer is extremely slim, not much bigger than a tube of mascara so it’s possibly the best bikini trimmer for discreetly slipping into your cosmetics bag.

It’s also very easy to hold when using it, the pretty pink and purple color is an added plus too.

Pros

  • checkprecise trimming
  • checkcan be used on facial hair and underarms
  • checksmall and compact
  • checkbattery operated, no cords

Cons

  • not so effective on very coarse hair
  • requires frequent battery changes

Best for

  • fine hair
  • precise trimming of small areas

7. Noxzema Bikini Shaver and Trimmer

  • checkSuper cheap
  • checkSmall and precise blade
  • checkMoisturizing shea strip

The Noxzema disposable bikini razor is a wonderfully effective and most importantly, a very low cost bikini razor.

Designed specifically for shaving your bikini line, these are without doubt the teeniest razors I’ve ever seen. These heads are even smaller than the Venus Gillettes, which makes them one of the best bikini razor products for getting into the small areas.

Each bikini razor has just one blade, and are sharp enough to get the job done without the risk of cutting yourself. There’s a double guard either side of the blade which acts to raise the blade away from your skin to protect from cuts and irritation.

Despite what you’d think, you’ll still get a really smooth, close shave even with the protective guard. Each bikini razor also has a comfort hydration strip infused with shea butter – my favorite for keeping skin silky smooth and moisturized.

The price is unbeatable, you can buy a three-pack on Amazon for just a couple of dollars (they tend to sell in bulk packages so exact price will depend on how many you buy), the downside is that these guys are pretty difficult to find in stores lately so you probably will need to consider buying online.

Pros

  • checkcheap
  • checksmall and precise blade
  • checkmoisturizing shea strip
  • checkprotective guard to prevent cuts

Cons

  • not so effective on large areas due to small size
  • hard to find in stores

Best for

  • keeping the small, detail areas neat

And the Clear Winner Is…

Out of the top 7 products reviewed, Schick Hydro Silk TrimStyle takes the biscuit in my opinion.

I love the fact that it’s both a bikini trimmer and specific bikini razor in one device, it means it’s easy to achieve either a trimmed or ‘groomed’ look, or a total clean shave if that’s what you’re going for. Sometimes all I want is a clean shave on my bikini line and a trim everywhere else, so this is the best bikini trimmer for that. I don’t have to try anymore to make one device do 2 jobs that it isn’t designed for, and making my skin suffer for it.

[tcb-script src=”https://api.tablelabs.com/t/qqcsik5d.js” defer=””][/tcb-script]

Personally, I am grateful to not have an extra charger to carry around, just a spare AAA battery which is much more compact and travel friendly. The moisturizing strip keeps me feeling soft for a full 24 hours after shaving, which is a big plus for me since my hair grows fast and can feel sharp and stubbly quickly. The fact that the razor blades can also be changed is great too, because you can replace them when they get dull instead of having to buy a new device. It also spares me the pain and stresses of going for waxes, which is a welcome change.

All this for a ridiculously low price – it can’t be beaten!

Best Hair Removal Machine for Men: Top 5 IPL Devices

Laser hair removal for men - top 5 devices

Earlier my colleague Alyssa wrote this super comprehensive guide to buying a home laser hair removal device and using hair removal machine for man.

This time, we will look into which ones work best for men and our specific needs!

Body hair removal has long been the domain of the ladies and it was generally a small group of men that chose this option.

In the past, a hairy chest was considered a sign of masculinity and still is by some people.

On the whole, however, tastes and fashions have changed and increasingly more men are opting for partial or full body hair removal.

Until recently, though, the hair removal industry didn't have much to offer:

The options for male hair removal machine were not only challenging and painful but also produced less than satisfactory results.

Hair Removal Machine for Man

Shaving is a very short term solution and stubble returns within a few days. It also often leaves bumps on the skin and can lead to painful ingrown hairs.

There is also the ongoing cost of razors which will not last when shaving large parts of your body. Waxing is a cumbersome process and can be extremely painful.

Many depilatory creams are quite effective but also need to be used fairly frequently.

What we really needed was a long-term, cost effective and relatively painless experience for hair removal for men.

The good news?

Home laser hair removal using IPL devices is exactly that!

Laser hair removal for men has come a long way during the recent past. Initially, one would have to go to a professional clinic or salon which is expensive, inconvenient and many of us are not that comfortable visiting such places.

Nowadays, there is a number of very effective, relatively inexpensive IPL machines that one can use in the comfort of your own home.

You might still need a bit of help with back hair removal but it beats the alternatives.

Based on extensive research and the feedback from many happy users, we can recommend the following options for permanent hair removal for men:

How does Home Laser Hair Removal for Men Work?

Laser hair removal machines for home use are small and portable devices which work by treating the hair right down to the root with light energy that is absorbed by the hair, effectively killing off the hair.

As hair grows in cycles, the process needs to be repeated a few times but after a number of treatments, the majority of body hair will stop growing back.

hair removal machines

(via GIPHY)

All that is needed is an occasional touch-up every now and then to catch the hairs you missed or did not treat effectively.

Although these machines are not cheap, they beat the cost of going to a salon and the convenience is well worth it. Men’s hair removal has never been more convenient or simple.

At present, there are no home machines to safely and effectively treat male facial hair. Looks like all of us will have to struggle on with that for a bit longer (facial hair removal for men is developing and advancing, though, so soon that will likely be a welcomed solution as well).

But as for the rest of your body, including male pubic hair removal, the home laser machines are highly effective when used correctly. They will not work for everyone, though; in particular, they are not suitable for very dark skin tones or light hairs.

By the end of this article, you will know exactly how to get the laser hair removal device that will work wonders for you and your life.

We have tested and studied some of the systems that provide the best hair removal for men. Find all the details below!

Top 5 Laser Hair Removal Devices for Men

1. LumaRx Full Body IPL Hair Removal Device for Face & Body

  • check
    Fast treatments
  • check
    Safety filter
  • check
    5 intensity settings

The LumaRx Full Body device is a highly rated, top-selling home IPL hair removal system. It is FDA approved for permanent removal of body hair on men and woman.

It is not suitable for facial hair on men or dark skin tones. It has an automatic sensor to ensure the skin tone is suitable.

LumaRx has also incorporated a ComfortFilter to shield you from infrared energy as well as damaging UV rays. It also has five intensity settings.

Generally, you should start with the lowest and work your way up over time. The lower settings can also be used for more sensitive areas.

It has a generous 3cm by 3cm window (one of the largest on the market) so it can treat larger areas in less time. This is great for back or chest hair removing.

The two caps included make it equally effective in smaller areas where precision is required. It also operates at 65 000 flashes and the long pulse length makes it highly effective at getting to the root of the hair to permanently prevent regrowth.

The 65 000 flashes should last a considerable amount of time and replacements can be purchased when it is exhausted. It is ideal for use on the chest, stomach, back, legs, arms, the groin area, and underarms.

If you want to know how to remove chest hair permanently, this is a great option.

You can expect professional quality hair removal in the comfort of your own home at a fraction of the cost. The LumaRx was designed by one of the leading dermatologists and most users see up to 94% reduction in treated areas after only four treatments.

It is recommended that you perform 3 treatments in the fist month and thereafter, every 2 weeks. After that, you will need to periodically touch up certain areas if you notice regrowth.

For a system for body hair removal for men, it is highly effective.

As it is a corded device, you will not have to stop halfway through to recharge which can be very frustrating with certain machines. It also comes with a 90-day money back guarantee for added peace of mind.

Pain is relative and you will experience a slight sting, especially on the higher settings. It is, however, far less painful than waxing and does not leave nasty looking bumps on the skin.

Shaving the area you wish to treat will also help minimize the pain. Another benefit is that the results are extremely long lasting so once your initial treatments are over, you will only have to do the odd minor touch up every few months.

Over time, the pain will become more bearable so hang in there. The LumaRx is a good choice for hair removal for men's privates.

Pros

  • check
    Large window for faster treatment
  • check
    Safety filter
  • check

Goggles are recommended during treatment.

The M3 gives you an option of 5 intensity settings, depending on the area and hair type you are treating. After 4 to 5 treatments, you will start to notice a long term reduction in hair growth.

A full treatment of 7 to 9 treatments is recommended for best results with an occasional touch-up every so often when you notice some regrowth.

It is a very economical way of eliminating body hair.

The technology that they have used is of the same standard as used in specialist hair removal salons. Numerous user reviews rate it as one of the less painful systems that have tried.

Remington claims that most men will notice a whopping 94% reduction after a mere 3 treatments.

One of the main advantages of this unit is the large effective window.

This is particularly useful for treating large areas such as the back although you might need your significant other to assist with this as it is not the easiest area to get to. The larger surface will certainly speed the process up which is a big plus.

As with most of these products, it is more effective on darker hair and it is not recommended for use on or around tattoos. It has a built-in sensor to ensure the skin tone and color is suitable for treatment.

It is effective on all body hair with the exception of the face (in men only). It is not advisable to use on the neck, face or head. You can expect to see a noticeable reduction in body hair after only a few treatments.

It is also cost-effective as it will give you around 1500 flashes and comes with 3 replacement globes. Another big plus is that the unit comes with a 2-year warranty so you will really get your money’s worth.

Deess boasts over 17 years experience in fine-tuning and perfecting their hair removal products. They have conducted extensive, ongoing clinical tests of their products and they are sold in more than 120 countries.

They are used by professionals, dermatologists, and plastic surgeons. The 3.1cm² window makes the treatment fast. The UV filter will protect the surrounding area from potentially harmful rays.

10 Best Electric Razors and Hair Trimmers

Best electric razors and hair trimmers

Have you ever noticed how adverts for ladies razors and shaving products always portray this relaxed, sensuous experience? The reality is, for most of us, shaving is anything but fun and relaxing. It is generally a chore that is unpleasant and frustrating. It is simply not enjoyable most of the time. Sure, marketers paint a pretty picture to promote their products but shaving does not have to be something you dread and put off for as long as possible. If you want silky smooth skin that is free of hair, without the bumps, nicks and irritation many shaving products produce, you just need to invest in the right equipment.

Some societies and cultures have no issues with female body hair but most western civilizations want as little of it as possible. Shaving just your legs and armpits every so often and your bikini line one or twice over summer just doesn’t do it for most women these days. More and more women are shaving greater areas of their bodies and more regularly than they did in the past. If you find shaving a chore, this won’t be pleasant.

There are a number of hair removal options available, all with advantages and disadvantages so it is important to find the one that works best for you. Waxing and epilation can be agonizing and laser hair removal takes time and can be quite expensive. While they are good options for some ladies for some body parts, shaving is the most practical and accessible method of hair removal for most.

Advantages of shaving with electric razor

  • Pain-free. Of all hair removal methods, shaving has to be the most painless way to get results, particularly when shaving the bikini area.

  • Fast. Shaving is quick and easy compared to other forms of hair removal. It also gives instant results.

  • Convenient. Shaving, particularly with an electric razor is convenient and can be done pretty much anywhere, anytime.

  • Cost effective. Although the initial outlay for a good electric razor might cost a bit, in the long run, it is one of the most cost effective means of hair removal.

There are two main options for shaving and that is a normal razor, where you wet shave the areas you wish to free of body hair, or an electric razor that can be used wet or dry. Of the two, electric razors are far more efficient and convenient, less painful and more cost effective in the long run. They are also much safer than conventional razors and give a smoother result as they gently pull the hair up before cutting it off. The fast rotating blades also make the process much faster than a manual razor. In this review, I will take you through the 10 best electric devices available on the market. They are as follows:

Choosing the right electric razor and hair trimmer

Before we get into our top recommendations for electric razors, let’s take a quick look at a few factors you need to consider when making your selection to make sure you get one of the best razors for women.

  • Foil vs Rotary. Foil shavers are designed to get a close shave on large areas like your legs, which is why they are most common in women s electric shavers than they are in shavers that are designed for men. These types of shavers are designed to shave in an up and down motion, so you have to shave a specific way to get the closest shave. They have a floating head that will adapt to the shape and curves of the area being shaved. Rotary shavers have multiple floating heads that spin behind a screen. They are more flexible for those difficult to reach areas, which is what makes a rotary blade a good option for shaving your bikini area. The blades rotate 360 degrees, so you can shave using a circular motion to get as close as possible. Rotary razors generally give a closer shave and are easier to clean.
  • Corded or Cordless. Do you want to be tethered to an outlet while you are shaving? For many women, this may not be an issue, but if your tub is not near an outlet in your bathroom, then shaving could be tricky. A cordless option has a little less power but is very convenient. Some of the top models offer both options so that you can plug in your shaver when the batteries are low.
  • Noise Level. Some electric razors for women are excessive when it comes to noise due to the number of vibrations that the devices require to remove the hair properly. Some are designed with noise reducing features to give you more peace of mind while you are shaving. For many, this is not a concern, but it could be crucial for someone who has small children that they do not want to wake up.
  • Key Features. Some of the best razors for women come with the ability to control the speed that you are shaving. You can typically shave your legs much faster than you can move the razor when you are shaving your bikini area, so this feature is something that will help protect your sensitive areas from being cut. Some models have dedicated personal trimmers for the bikini area that you can use as well. Don’t forget to look for included attachments that may make shaving easier for you.
  • Accessories. Some razors come with additional attachments and accessories such as precision attachments and exfoliators. Many of these can be very useful but are not essential for the main purpose of shaving and trimming.
  • Comfort and design. You want the shaver to be compact and fit comfortably in your hand. The better the ergonomic design, the easier it will be to control and get to those hard to reach areas.
